Mark Zuckerberg and Philanthropy
If I had Mark Zuckerberg’s millions, I would not care what anyone had to say about how I spent my money. I would give a huge percentage to the Cradle Adoption Agency, send tons of kids to college, and anonymously pay off random people’s mortgage who are close to foreclosure. I am sure many would advise me as to who, what, when, where and how to manage my wealth. Giving to an organization or cause that you emotionally connect with or one that drives you is important. It does not matter what anyone thinks or feels. Save the criticism…I am rich and powerful.
Zuckerberg and his wife have demonstrated generosity beyond belief. I truly believe it would not matter if they donated a reported 99% to the homeless or cancer research, someone somewhere with less means will determine what the Zuckerbergs should have done with their riches.
Know-it-alls from around the country advise Bill Gates on what to do with the billions he slaved over for years. Only when Gates has set up his foundation, along with his wife, were his advisers able to get a good night’s rest over his billions of dollars.
Founder of the most used social media vehicles in the world, Mark Zuckerberg has become a celebrity within the world philanthropy. Giving 99 percent of his fortune to different causes around the world after the birth of his first and only son, the Zuckerbergs are prepared for the ugly criticism to follow.
The Bill Bonner & Doug Casey libertarian camp do not agree with Zuckerberg’s choice to donate to non-profits. Many people are quite concerned with how legit these non-profit organizations actually are. Many are quicksand traps or a place where political crooks can get very creative.
Contributors to several financial publications around the country have expressed that they do not believe Zuckerberg put much thought into any real cause driven movements. Some believe Zuckerberg is truly a disappointment and his gift-giving will do nothing to express freedom.
Zuckerberg, choosing to operate from his own belief system, has every right to give where he so chooses. Giving up property is their right as Americans. People are more concerned with too much philanthropy.
Senator Bernie Sanders said that billionaires have more money than they know what to do with and definitely more money than they need. I can barely grasp the idea of having several million in my account. The thought of billions just seems unreal. The key to being wealthy is never really spending your own money. The wealth that billionaires do not consume is pure capital. This beautiful thing called capital could fund new businesses and employ many out of work Americans. And the wealthy, of course, are always investing more capital into become wealthier than they were when they woke up this morning.
Zuckerberg from the film Social Network just did not come across as the type of guy who would cough up 99 percent of his labor to the less fortunate. Many try to drill into the youth that rich people are no different from those who are “middle-class” or below. The only big difference is Zuckerberg woke up with choices this morning on who and where to give. Some of us are scratching to get.
